Burgundy (Bourgogne) – Exploring the heart of France

Honeymoon in the “heart of France” and bask in its glorious delights. “Oh! How I would give up my happiness just for yours, although you should never guess, If only on occasion, even from afar, I could hear the laughter of that happiness, born of my sacrifice!” – Cyrano

The region of Burgundy is famous for not only its excellent wines, but its rich medieval history and in particular its abbeys, as this was long the religious center of France.  A visit through Burgundy is best done by car or bicycling, and it begins less than 2 hours away from Paris.

Among the highlights will definitely be your dining experiences and visits to vineyards and wineries.  And all wine tastings are accompanied by fine food.  Our tours take you to the finest private cellars and include French cooking lessons and a local guide to highlight the region’s cultural treasures.
Another special attraction in this region, if you want to enjoy some of the finest lakes, hills and forests, is Morvan Regional Park.  Here you can hike up the Rocher de la Perouse and enjoy a spectacular view of the Morvan and Cure Valleys. The scenery is wonderful. Dijon is the capital of la Bourgogne and one of the finest medieval towns in France.

A highly cultural center, its culinary sophistication is also renowned. The Musée des Beaux-Arts in the Palais des Ducs is one of the country’s most important art museums. In addition, the palace houses the tombs of two important dukes of Burgundy.  See the kitchens, the guard room and colored tombs and altar pieces. Other important sights are the elegant cathedrals, the 15th century gateway and the 17th century mansion Musée Magnin, showing original furnishings and décor.  Place Darcy is the main square with some excellent eating places to suit any budget and taste. Try the bustling Brasserie Concorde, a great place to people watch.

Beauneis definitely one of the most lovely towns in France, so it is crowded with tourists. Still, it is a stop you won’t want to miss.  There are collections of famous tapestries, and around the region are the outstanding Hospices de Beaune vineyards.  Visit the Hospices with its marvelous tiled roofs. Le Marché aux vins are candle-lit cellars where you can taste wines of the region, from the lighter whites to the rich and tannic reds.

If you are planning to spend a romantic getaway in France, then this place is just right for your romantic plans. There are a lot of holiday homes and owners direct in the area that you can choose to stay for the duration of your stay.
